Grown Bit Me LOL

September 3rd, 2009

When all seemed well this morning…

So nothing major, this is just the first time this has ever happened to me.  Growl is a program that gives wonderful status updates in little pop up windows generally in the top right of my screen, out of the way of any work I am doing and translucent so that it is not very intrusive.  It is nice because this is how I see when I have new mail , when people come online, when I get asked questions or responses via instant messaging etc.  Growl also tells me when files I am uploading have been put up and when they fail…..

Well today my internet connection had been a little wonky at best, with ups and downs and some very low lows.  In that there were a few times even loading iGoogle a page which is for the most part cached would rarely load.

In that time I was trying to upload a large number of files to a hosting server for a client, and well right in the middle the interent hit one of its lower lows…..then Growl decided to let me know lol…FYI there were over 1500 files trying to be uploaded, this went on for a bit…

My friend Dustin posted this on his forum at Mischief.tv, I thought it was just ridiculous and thought I would share. The video is of a safety car pulling out onto the course and ending up being struck by one of the race cars coming around the chicane.

I personally have some thought on who was to blame but for me it seems to rest on both the race driver and the safety car driver. First I blame the Safety Car driver because he jumped right out there onto the track and into the middle when he could have used the side lane to get going. I blame the race driver because well it was a full course caution, the flags were out and he still came through that chicane at a really high speed, high enough for the impact to separate the wheel from the car.

Here is the video:

Here is another video I found which shows more of the race leading up to the crash, you can see as they are coming around all of the corner workers have out the full course yellow flags, announcers are talking about the fact that this will bring out the safety car, so you can also relitively safely assume that the teams had radioed their drivers that the safety car would be coming out. Why would you then be going full out through a chicane?

Anyway here is the second video:

So who would you put to being at fault here?

Just thought everyone should know, friend and professional race car driver Dean Martin with Ken Wilden and the rest of the Rehagen Racing team won the KONI Challenge Grand Sport race at Leguna Seca this past weekend in the Rehagen Racing #59 car.

From Grand-Am Site: (read full article)

Ken Wilden muscled his way into the lead on the final restart with 16 minutes remaining and held on to pace the final 11 circuits of Saturday’s 79-lap Verizon Festival of Speed, giving the No. 59 Rehagen Racing Ford Mustang GT co-driven by Dean Martin its first Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge Grand Sport victory of the season at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

So I just want to share my way to go and put a Mustang on the top guys, hope to see you at The Glen in June =)

This was just an awesome video, esspecially if you are into cars, like the movie Cars by Disney’s Pixar or really just like fun animated flicks. Figured I really had to share.
